International collaboration will promote forensic excellence in India and beyond
Officials representing foster+freeman, the Indian National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), and the British High Commission, met in Gandhinagar to sign a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see the country’s next generation of forensic investigators being equipped with best-in-class crime scene and forensic laboratory technology.
In a significant step towards enhancing forensic science capabilities throughout India, foster+freeman ltd. has signed a collaborative agreement with the esteemed Indian National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU). This partnership aims to foster a strong synergy between the company’s expertise in developing cutting-edge forensic technologies and the university’s academic excellence, ultimately advancing forensic science practices in India.
Following an extensive tour of the NFSU facilities in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, the MoU was signed by Mr. Simon King – Chief Commercial Officer, Foster + Freeman, UK and Prof. (Dr.) S. O. Junare – Director, NFSU, Gujarat Campus in the presence of Mr. Stephen Hickling – British Deputy High Commissioner – Gujarat and Rajasthan and Dr. J.M. Vyas – Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NFSU.
Other officials from the British High Commission – Amee Raninga – Political Advisor, British Deputy High Commission and Ms. Shivani Garkal – Trade Advisor, UK DSE, British High Commission, New Delhi; representatives from Foster+Freeman and NFSU officials – Shri. C.D. Jadeja – Executive Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Chaudhary – Director – International and Training, Prof. (Dr.) Purvi Pokhariyal – Director, Academic, Research and Consultancy, Prof. (Dr.) Satish Kumar, Dean, School of Forensic Science, and other officers were also present.
Landmark Collaboration
The collaborative agreement marks a landmark moment in the field of forensic science in India as NFSU officials seek to further expand facilities at their impressive ‘Centre of Excellence’ in the area of Physical Forensics and Crime Scene Investigation.
Under this partnership, NFSU students will have the opportunity to access state-of-the-art forensic science equipment including Crime-lite forensic light sources, fingerprint imaging technology, trace evidence examination instruments, and other crime scene investigation equipment. This advanced equipment will aid the Indian university in training aspiring forensic scientists and conducting in-depth research in various forensic disciplines.
foster+freeman Crime-lite products such as the 82S (above) are used at crime scenes and in forensic laboratories worldwide to reveal evidence that cannot be detected using other light sources.
The Crime-lite X (above) enables the examiner to seamlessly switch between White, UV, Violet, Blue, Blue/Green, Green, Orange, Red, and Infrared LEDs, to perform a comprehensive multi-spectral examination of a crime scene.
Promoting Forensic Excellence
One of the primary objectives of this collaboration is to foster forensic excellence in India. By leveraging the expertise of foster+freeman, the NFSU aims to enhance its forensic science curriculum, ensuring that it aligns with the latest technological advancements and global standards.
Moreover, the collaborative agreement will encourage joint research initiatives between foster+freeman and the NFSU. By pooling their resources and expertise, both entities can undertake groundbreaking research projects that address key challenges in forensic science. These research endeavours will contribute to the development of novel forensic techniques and the overall improvement of forensic investigative practices.
